Miller Park, Whatta Place!!!

Over memorial Day I got to go to Miller Park in Milwaukee and watch the Brewers host (and beat) the Giants.    Fielder played, but Posey and Hart were on the DL.  Lincecum was on the bench with his hood and you could see Brian Wilson’s beard in the pen.

One of the cool things about the game was that I saw pitcher get a hit and then score from first on a left field foul line double.  The AL just can’t beat that.  And Bob Uecker in the booth.

I grew up equidistant from the Cubs, Sox and Brewers and had only seen the Brew Crew in the old County Stadium.  It was quite a place.

We got there and tailgated.  OF COURSE!  You could grill and drink.  They have places to safely dump ashes and let me tell you the beer FLOWED during the game.  And the adults behaved and the children had a great time.  The Brewer fans were totally cool to the Giant fans, totally.   Also, $1 hot dogs and $3 cotton candy and of course the Sausage Race.

They closed the roof because it rained — hard.  Game went on.  Imagine that, 1-in-a-million to see that even though I live in St. Paul and had it with the Dome (before the Twins moved to Target Field, with no roof).

Overall an awesome experience.  I highly suggest everyone go.  Milwaukee is a bit severe and industrial, like their ballpark, but Cheeseheads are totally cool with you, even if you wear Illinois colors.  I didn’t do that though, its disrespecful in their park.

On the way out I got to see the statue of a guy I saw when I was a kid, the home run king.

Definitely worth the visit.
